Quality Control Inspector  

Responsibilities Include:

  • Inspect products and determine if they meet customer standards.
  • Perform regular checks throughout the production shift.
  • Operate and control the CMM and other inspection equipment.
  • Read CMM reports and correlate with blueprint dimensions.
  • Mark items for acceptance or rejection. Record test results.
  • Mark a part accordingly to show moves that need made at the machine.
  • Talk to staff about inspection results and suggest ways to fix problems.
  • Receiving, in process and final inspection.
  • Collect samples for testing.
  • Test and inspect products or processes.       Evaluate quality or performance.
  • Determine the correct gaging needed to do a job.
  • Assist with gage calibration.
  • Prepare test and inspection reports as requested.
  • Produce data entry information (SPC), as requested.
  • Clean and perform general maintenance of CMM and other inspection equipment.
  • Perform cleanliness inspections if needed.
  • Use tools or inspection equipment as needed.
  • May need to lead or participate in the MRB meetings.




  • Ability to perform inspection using instruments such as calipers, micrometers, etc.
  • Willingness to train operators on the use of inspection instruments and techniques.
  • Ability to read CMM printouts and teach operators how to read them.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • A good understanding of blueprint reading and GD&T.
  • Must be precise. Errors could result in non-conforming product and unsafe products.
  • Be able to keep up with the pace of production.
  • Must be able to perform the physical activities required such as lifting and bending.
  • Make quick and accurate adjustment recommendations for production personnel.
